The renovation focused on strengthening the identity of the historic building while adapting it to its current functions. Today, the building houses the Húsavík Whale Museum, whose extensive and diverse exhibition spans two floors, while the ground floor is dedicated to an educational and innovation centre.

Originally built as a slaughterhouse in 1931. The design embraces the existing architecture and is inspired byt its original features such as the distinctive typeface on the façade and materiality.
