The Kvíabekkur project is split in two parts. One is a restoration of an old front annex (Framhús) to a ruined turf house. And the other is a reconstruction of the vanished turf house. The site is located in the town gardens, in the center of Húsavík, North Iceland.

Originally built in the year 1891, the wooden part of the building, the “framhús” is a good example of the kind of extension that was commonly added to turf houses in the area.  The project is ongoing but ideas for a future use are amongs other artists or researchers residency, guesthouse or coffee shop.
