Arnhildur Pálmadóttir
graduated from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2006 with a BA degree in architecture, continuing her studies at the Barcelona school of architecture - ETSAB while later completing a master's degree from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia - IAAC. Arnhildur has an entrepreneurial attitude and an interdisciplinary interest that she uses to tackle projects from various perspectives. Arnhildur has written articles and texts related to innovation, technology and sustainability in design and construction as well as giving lectures on the subject. Besides being founder of sap architects she is now running the Icelandic branch of the Danish architecture and innovation company Lendager, which specializes in sustainability and circularity in construction. She is the winner of the Nordic Council's Environmental Award 2024 for interdisciplinary collaboration and focus on recyclable building materials.
Arnar Skarphéðinsson
https://arnarskarp.org/is an architect and filmmaker. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Icelandic University of the Arts and a Masters of Architecture 2 from SCI-Arc in Los Angeles. Arnar has worked on 3D visualization and research projects for Space Iceland; in addition, he is a part of s.ap architects where his work encompasses architectural design and 3D representations along with concept work for diverse projects including Lavaforming which was first premiered and shown during Design March in Reykjavík, 2022. Arnar believes that the power of architecture lies in it’s ability to sketch out futures that grapple with the problems of modernity. His vision is that architecture, empowered by 3D drawings, animations and video games has the capacity to illustrate these potential futures emphasizing poetic technologies.
Sukanya Mukherjee
is an architectural designer and filmmaker based out of Los Angeles, CA. Originally from Tampa, she graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s in Design and more recently from SCI-Arc with a Masters in Architecture I. Sukanya’s work lives in the overlaps between film and architecture she finds most interesting. Her Master’s Thesis, done in partnership with Arnar Skarphedinsson, focused on exploring the importance of architecture’s narrative and generative capabilities in the form of an animated short film. Her work at s.ap architects is an extension of her academic practice, expanding into technological speculation. Sukanya’s resume includes internships at MAD Architects and OfficeUntitled, and various on-set roles where she works towards becoming a Production Designer.
Björg Skarphéðinsdóttir
is a multidisciplinary designer based in Reykjavík, Iceland. She graduated with an MFA in Fashion Design from Parsons – The New School in New York where her final project was part of NY fashion week and her student project in collaboration with Swarovski was exhibited in their 5th avenue store in New York. Björg has worked for well-known brands in New York such as Jason Wu and Narciso Rodriguez, as well as working as a freelance designer for 66°North in Iceland and the Icelandic knitwear brand As We Grow. Björg has been part of the sap arkitektar team for the last few years where she has worked on graphical representation of architectural and speculative projects, for example Lavaforming in diverse media formats.
